Hanson has specialized experience with projects involving the management of coal combustion residuals (CCR) from power-generating facilities. Our involvement includes site evaluations and alternatives analyses; design; permitting; construction and monitoring of dry landfills, ash ponds, gypsum stacks and associated structures; as well as beneficial-use projects. We also provide design, permitting and construction-phase services for the closure of ash ponds and other ash-disposal facilities. Additionally, Hanson offers specialized services including environmental and hydrogeologic impact studies and closure plans, as well as implementation and long-term monitoring.

Hanson has the experience and skills to navigate the complex arrays of state and federal regulations regarding utility-generated coal wastes, including CCR, ELG, NPDES and others. We also offer waste management services to a variety of clients in communications, industrial, utility, petroleum and government sectors.
