Violet WSC elevated tank
Project Summary
Violet Water Supply Corp. (Violet WSC) is a rural water supplier in South Texas. Violet WSC’s 50,000-gallon elevated storage tank was aging and in need of structural improvements and re-coating to prolong the life of the facility.
Hanson provided engineering for the tank’s structural improvements and re-coating. The project included the tank cleaning, surface preparation, replacement of structural members, disinfection and bacteriological testing, as well as the installation of a new interior access ladder. Hanson evaluated a variety of alternatives to address the issue of the aging tank and determined the needed repairs and refurbishment. Hanson’s team also assisted Violet WSC with the development of a request for quote for a coating inspector.
The project was funded in part by a loan through the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Rural Development and Violet WS C. Hanson assisted with the funding application, engineering and environmental reports, design and construction contract administration, resident daily inspection and coordination with the funding agency. Hanson’s knowledge of grant funding opportunities helped Violet WSC obtain the financial resources it needed to continue providing its community with reliable and affordable drinking water.
