Project Summary
Established in the 1940s, the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport is located in Sarasota. The airport facility lies in two counties: the airfield in Manatee County and the terminal in Sarasota County.
Hanson personnel have provided services for several projects at the airport, including the following:
Air traffic control tower
Hanson was selected to provide professional civil engineering services for a new Airport Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) and associated administrative base building. Project tasks included site surveying, geotechnical subsurface exploration, domestic water, wastewater and stormwater design. The design was a site adaptation of a modified standard low activity level tower with a 525-square-foot control cab and a 9,000- square-foot administrative base building with a custom link. The tower cab was a 10-sided, pre-cast concrete structure with an eye level of approximately 135 feet above mean sea level, or about 114 feet above existing grade level. Notice to Proceed for professional design services was issued on Sept. 1, 2010, and services were completed in March 2015. The total costs for design and permitting of the project were more than $16,000,000. Hanson also provided bidding and construction services.
Development of Regional Impact traffic study
