Papalote Creek Wind Farm, Phases I and II
Project Summary
Hanson provided services for local public agency coordination and permitting, civil/site design, service roadway design, construction observation and quality assurance reporting, as well as right-of-way exhibits and metes-and-bounds descriptions to acquire easements for all underground utility lines at the Papalote Creek Wind Farm in San Patricio County, Texas, located approximately 30 miles north of Corpus Christi. Following Phase II, the wind farm consists of 200 turbines.
The project, with a total installed capacity of approximately 380 megawatts, was developed in two phases and supplies sufficient electricity to power more than 100,000 homes. Phase I, with a capacity of approximately 180 megawatts, included 109 Vestas V82 turbines with a rated capacity of 1.65 megawatts each; Phase II added 200 megawatts of capacity through the addition of 87 2.3-megawatt SWT 2.3-101 turbines.
