Gibbs celebrates 10 years at Hanson’s headquarters
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Shawn Gibbs, a biologist at Hanson Professional Services Inc., recently celebrated 10 years of service at the firm’s Springfield headquarters.
Gibbs joined Hanson in 2011 and prepares environmental assessments and permit applications and conducts aquatic habitat and wildlife assessments, threatened and endangered species surveys, wetland delineations and mitigation monitoring. She has provided services for projects including a Tier 2 environmental impact assessment for a planned railroad flyover south of Springfield for the Springfield Rail Improvements Project; an environmental assessment for the replacement of the eastbound span of the McClugage Bridge in Peoria and Tazewell counties; a sinkhole mitigation and runway rehabilitation at Monroe County Airport in Bloomington, Indiana; and Bowman Field’s area safety program in Louisville, Kentucky. She also is one of Hanson’s drone pilots and provides geographic information system support for the South Suburban Airport project in Peotone and the Illinois Department of Transportation Bureau of Land Acquisition’s outdoor advertising control support services program.
She received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology in 2008 from Millikin University and in 2011 from the University of Illinois Springfield, respectively. She is a member of the Illinois Aviation Trades Association and the Illinois Public Airports Association.
