Schroedter, Schutte celebrate 15 years at Hanson
BELLEVUE, Wash. — Lauren Schroedter, P.E., an assistant vice president and Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s railway discipline manager, and Laura Schutte, P.E., a project manager, recently celebrated 15 years of service at Hanson. They work at the firm’s Seattle regional office.
Schroedter joined Hanson as an intern in 2006 and became full time in 2009. She has experience in project scoping, feasibility studies, conceptual designs, design-team coordination, construction-phase planning, design reviews, bid-document preparation, estimating, scheduling, construction administration and contract management for railroad projects. She has worked on numerous track, bridge and telecommunication projects for BNSF Railway Co., including a $130 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act-funded capacity improvement project in Kelso and Kalama, the expansion of the Orillia Auto Yard in Renton and additional bridges to relieve rail traffic congestion in Sandpoint, Idaho, which includes a 4,800-foot-plus bridge over Lake Pend Oreille. She also served as an auditor for six years for the National Precast Concrete Association. She received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering in 2009 from Northeastern University and is a licensed professional engineer in Washington and Oregon. She is a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA), Institute of Industrial Engineers and the Society of Women Engineers.
Schutte joined Hanson in 2006 at the firm’s Anchorage, Alaska office, where she worked for 10 years providing project management, design and construction management on projects that included civil transportation design, planning, hydrology and hydraulics, utilities, telecommunications and environmental permitting for Alaska Railroad Corp. and other clients. Notably, she served as project engineer for the conceptual design through final design of the 32-mile Port MacKenzie rail line extension in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough and as engineer-of-record for 15 miles of this project. Since transferring to the Seattle regional office, she has managed and designed projects for BNSF and municipal clients, including yard expansions and intermodal improvements; logistics centers; telecommunications towers; bridges; and siding, double track and realignment projects throughout the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia, Canada. She earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering in 2003 and a master’s degree in agricultural and biological engineering in 2006 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a licensed professional engineer in Washington and Alaska. She is a member of AREMA and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
