Lane earns professional appraisal designation
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — William Lane, MAI, a land acquisition specialist at Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Springfield headquarters, has been designated a Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) by the Appraisal Institute.
The MAI is the top commercial designation of the institute, which is an association of about 22,000 real estate professionals in almost 60 countries. According to the institute, members with the MAI designation “are experienced in the valuation and evaluation of commercial, industrial, residential and other types of properties, and who advise clients on real estate investment decisions.” Individuals pursuing the designation take graduate-level courses and a comprehensive exam, prepare a demonstration appraisal report and achieve 4,500 hours of qualifying experience.
Lane joined Hanson in 2012 and provides land acquisition services for roadway, airport and railway projects, including expert witness testimony, appraisals and appraisal reviews. His work has included the expansion of Wabash Avenue, extension of Stanford Avenue and acquisitions for the 10th Street corridor for the Springfield Rail Improvements Project, all in Springfield; U.S. 67 widening in Madison, Jersey, Greene and Morgan counties; new Interstate 57 interchanges in Mount Vernon and Marion; and Route 13 widening project between Jackson and Saline counties. He is providing land acquisition services for a planned overpass at Iron Bridge and Woodside roads in Sangamon County.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Illinois College. He is a certified general appraiser in Illinois and a member of the Illinois Coalition of Appraisal Professionals, National Association of Realtors, Illinois Association of Realtors and the Peoria Association of Realtors.
