Hanson Professional Services Inc., Robert Chantome recognized by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Hanson Professional Services Inc. and Hanson employee Robert Chantome recently were recognized by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for their support of the Rock Island District’s New Orleans Support Office (RINOS). Hanson was one of seven participating consulting firms for RINOS, providing the New Orleans District with project management, engineering, contracting and support services for four projects totaling more than $1.3 billion.
The Corps presented an award to Hanson for its support of the greater New Orleans area Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRRS) mission – a project to incorporate 350 miles of levees and floodwalls designed to reduce the risk of flooding during a storm. The Corps noted, “Hanson’s support and dedication were instrumental to the success of the West Bank and Vicinity RINOS projects.” Collectively, the RINOS team delivered 173 design packages, conducted 214 design technical reviews, awarded 15 architecture/engineering contracts and nine construction contracts, and acquired real estate for 19 contracts.
Additionally, the Corps commended Hanson’s Robert Chantome, P.E., a senior geotechnical engineer, for his professionalism, competence and initiative in the West Bank and Vicinity West Closure Complex projects. The Corps wrote, “Mr. Chantome’s performance of duty is in keeping with the finest traditions of civil service and reflects great credit upon himself, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the United States Army.”
