Hanson receives recognition from ACEC of Indiana
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Hanson Professional Services Inc. recently received recognition for two projects in the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Indiana’s Engineering Excellence Awards.
Hanson is the recipient of a Merit Award for an interchange project in Valparaiso, Ind. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) selected Hanson to provide scoping; roadway, bridge and traffic design; wetland mitigation; and permitting for a new interchange on Indiana 49 at Vale Park Road. The interchange includes diagonal ramps and a pre-stressed, concrete-beam bridge on mechanically stabilized earth wall abutments, with a teardrop-shaped roundabout at each entrance-and-exit ramp. This project is one of the first instances that INDOT has constructed roundabouts on the state’s highway system.
Hanson also received a State Finalist Award for its data management program for the planned replacement of the Interstate 74 Mississippi River bridge from Moline, Ill., to Bettendorf, Iowa. The prime consultant, Alfred Benesch & Co., selected Hanson to lead the Web-accessible program for the project team comprising the Illinois and Iowa departments of transportation, 10 consultant firms and 10 state and local agencies.
ACEC is a professional organization of 51 state and regional councils with members from more than 5,000 engineering firms across the U.S. The annual Engineering Excellence Awards recognizes outstanding achievements from member firms.
