Chepkoit celebrates 15 years at Hanson

ST. LOUIS — Kipkoech Chepkoit, Ph.D., P.E., F.ASCE, assistant vice president, geotechnical discipline manager and chief geotechnical engineer at Hanson Professional Services Inc., recently celebrated 15 years at the firm’s St. Louis regional office.

Chepkoit, who joined Hanson in 2010, oversees Hanson’s geotechnical group and manages projects that require geotechnical exploration, report preparation and modeling, analyzing and designing complex geotechnical problems such as soil-structure interaction. He has provided geotechnical services for a variety of projects, including Interstate 74 through Moline, Illinois, associated with the new Mississippi River bridge replacement in Moline and Bettendorf, Iowa; the design of a flood control system in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; the CapX2020 Mississippi River transmission line crossing near Alma, Wisconsin; the sinkhole repair and runway rehabilitation at Monroe County Airport in Bloomington, Indiana; multiple transportation department and railroad projects; and Ameren Corp.’s Illinois Rivers Project.

Chepkoit received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1990 from the University of Nairobi in Kenya, and master’s and doctorate degrees in civil engineering in 1993 and 1999, respectively, from the University of Maryland. He is a member of the Association of State Dam Safety Officials, National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying and the Society of American Military Engineers, and he is a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is a licensed professional engineer in several states, including Missouri and Illinois.
