Gotschall celebrates 25 years at Hanson

ST. LOUIS — Howard Gotschall II, P.E., S.E., a vice president and the bridges discipline manager at Hanson Professional Services Inc., recently celebrated 25 years of service at the firm.

Gotschall, who joined the company in 1999, leads the management and business development efforts at the St. Louis area office, as well as the management of Hanson’s bridge group nationally. He has provided bridge design for highway and rail projects, including numerous bridges for the Illinois and Missouri departments of transportation; the construction of new flyover ramps for the Palmetto Expressway and Okeechobee Road interchange in Miami, Florida, for the Florida Department of Transportation; the Paducah and Louisville Railroad relocation for the Kentucky Dam lock addition on the Tennessee River in Kentucky; and the Alaska Railroad Corp. northern extension, which includes the Tanana River bridge in Salcha, Alaska.

Gotschall earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1999 from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and is a licensed professional engineer in several states, including Missouri and Florida, and a licensed structural engineer in Alaska and Illinois. He serves on the American Council of Engineering Companies of Missouri’s board of directors as well as multiple committees, including transportation, governmental affairs and political action trustees, plus the liaison committee to the Missouri Department of Transportation (St. Louis District). He also is the co-chair of the organization’s Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District Liaison Committee. He is a member of the Structural Engineering Exam Development Committee for the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying.
