Project Summary
East Carolina University (ECU) selected Hanson to provide commissioning services for its School of Dental Medicine’s (SoDM) fourth-floor fit-up project. The project involved the design and build-out of the shell space on the fourth floor of Ledyard E. Ross Hall. Incorporating approximately 33,930 square feet, the project addresses the school’s need for research space in the fields of dental science, oral hygiene and biomaterials. Multiple laboratories were provided, along with associated preparation rooms, equipment rooms, fume hood alcoves and locker rooms. In addition, the build-out created a number of offices, workstations, conference rooms and administrative space for graduate students, researchers and technical staff. The facility achieved LEED® Silver certification.
To assist the ECU with accreditation requirements for the SoDM, Hanson commissioned areas including dental research laboratories, lab support spaces, a vivarium (animal holding and procedures), offices and administrative areas, restrooms and technology and building support spaces.
