City of Ingleside (Texas) 750,000-gallon elevated water storage tank design

Project Summary

The city of Ingleside, Texas, selected Hanson to provide professional engineering services for the design and construction of a new 750,000-gallon composite elevated storage tank.

Prior to the new tank, the city’s combined elevated storage had reached 88% of its capacity.  The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires municipalities to begin planning for expansion if any component is operating at 85% or greater and start construction of an expansion once the system has reached 90% capacity. Based on its population at the time, the city was limited in the amount of additional water service it could provide and remain within TCEQ compliance regulations. The new tank increased the city’s capacity by approximately 45%.

The project included the tank’s erection, installation, painting, foundation coordination, 12-inch piping, concrete splash pad, electrical and controls, cathodic protection, access road, security fencing and site work.

Hanson also assisted the city with obtaining funding through the U.S. Economic Development Administration and aided in the preliminary planning, environmental review process, construction document preparation and construction contract administration services.
