Hanson staff to present at AREMA conference in Orlando

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Hanson’s Doug Dorsey, Shane Ferrell, EIT, and Jennifer Sunley will serve as presenters at the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association’s (AREMA) 2010 Annual Conference and Exposition in Orlando, Fla. 

On Aug. 29 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Doug Dorsey, a project manager, and Jennifer Sunley, a biologist, will serve as instructors for the daylong session, “Environmental Permitting Issues in Railroad Construction Projects.”  Dorsey is a member of AREMA and the American Railway Development Association.  He also has served on several committees for the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency as well as the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois. Dorsey has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Illinois College.  Sunley has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Illinois College and a master’s degree in biology from Illinois State University.  For more information on this presentation, contact Dorsey at ddorsey@hanson-inc.com or Sunley at jsunley@hanson-inc.com.

On Aug. 31 at 8:30 a.m., Dorsey also will present, “Streamlined Approach to Permitting Expansion of The BNSF Railway Memphis Intermodal Facility,” as part of the Engineering Services Technical Session. 

On Aug. 31 at 2 p.m., Ferrell, a civil/railroad designer, is co-presenting a paper along with Michigan Tech University’s Pasi Lautala, Ph.D., P.E., titled, “Railway Embankment Stabilization on Permafrost:  Global Experiences.”  Their presentation is included in the Engineering Services Technical Session.  Ferrell is a member of AREMA and the American Society of Civil Engineers.  He has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering, both from Michigan Tech University.  For more information about this presentation, please contact Ferrell at sferrell@hanson-inc.com.
