Hanson’s Shane Ferrell to present at International Heavy Haul Association conference

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s Shane Ferrell, EIT, will serve as a presenter at the 2011 International Heavy Haul Association (IHHA) conference.  Ferrell’s presentation, “Embankment Stabilization Techniques for Railroads in Permafrost Soils,” will be held at 1 p.m. on June 21 in the Bonavista Room at the Westin Calgary in Calgary, Canada.

His presentation will focus on engineered methods, which have been developed to keep rail embankments stable across permafrost. Permafrost soils present very specific challenges to railroad construction and operation, and these engineered methods help to reduce some of these issues.  For more information on this presentation, contact Ferrell at sferrell@hanson-inc.com.

Ferrell received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from Michigan Technological University.
